Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing."

WAYNE HARTRICK
Senior Counsel

"A company's reputation is its relationships with its stakeholders. Building, managing and protecting those relationships builds reputational capital - a competitive advantage" - Wayne Hartrick

Wayne has been offering strategic counsel to clients in North America, Europe and Asia for more than 20 years. He has worked with some of the largest brand names including the Winter Olympic Games, Walmart and Century 21. He has worked in Regional and Civic Politics, and has been a longtime volunteer for former Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan and Sullivan’s disability charities.

Wayne is passionate about integrating social media and social networking into the marketing and PR of organizations. He started his own blog on the worst PR blunders of business people, politicians and celebrities at www.prblunders.com.

Wayne didn’t intend to end up in PR. When he graduated from high school, he dodged his father’s suggestions to go University, instead pursuing a career as a Captain in the Coast Guard. However, after a few years on the ships, Wayne took a job on shore teaching safe boating. He got his introduction to PR by doing events, presentations, and media relations. Wayne has been instrumental in building two successful PR consulting companies. He was also the founder of Reputations Corporation and served as its President for more than 15 years.

Wayne is a Director of two not-for-profit organizations, The Global Civic Policy Society and the ARC Foundation. The Global Civic Policy Society promotes good policy-making on issues such as urban density and social issues. The ARC Foundation funds initiatives that promote awareness, respect and capacity for marginalized groups in society.
