John has worked as a lobbyist for the Jim Pattison Group, a lawyer and senior civil servant for the Government of British Columbia, an account executive at a Vancouver-based advertising agency and as a partner in western Canada's largest public affairs consultancy. He provides a range of government relations, communications and public affairs advice and services.

John has also been a political strategist and campaigner for federal and provincial political parties, individual MLAs, cabinet ministers and municipal political organizations in Victoria and throughout the Lower Mainland. John has served on the boards of community groups, educational bodies, political organizations and business associations.
